Jim Tobin would say he’s OG when it comes to social media marketing, but the eye rolls from his three daughters might prove fatal.
Tell us about your company
Jim founded Ignite Social Media in 2007 (he’s now CEO) and Carusele in 2015 (he’s president). Both work with household name brand companies looking to better connect with customers and prospects through social media. Jim also wrote the books “Social Media is a Cocktail Party” in 2008 and “Earn It. Don’t Buy It.” in 2013.
What are your favorite books and industry sites for education and/or fav non-industry sites for inspiration?
The booked that changed my professional live is The Origin of Brands by Reis & Reis. As markets mature, they diverge, and each branch is another chance for a leader brand to emerge. Today, I read constantly, from novels to business books, from tweets to magazines. I love Twitter for that, as the folks I follow end up curating great content for me.

Anything else we should know?
My first marketing job was as the Duke Blue Devil mascot. For two years, I traveled the country with the football and basketball teams, including the Final Four. Great times.
